5 Non-Scale Victories to Celebrate Right Now

Mid-January is a tough time for a lot of people. In most of the northern hemisphere the weather is dark and grey, holiday bills are starting to roll in, and on top of that, you feel like you’re not making any progress on your weight loss journey. It’s been two weeks! Shouldn’t I have lost at least a few pounds by now? Not necessarily. Read More

15 Questions to Ask Yourself Before the End of the Year

Each year I take time in December to reflect on the past year. I like to make myself a cup of hot tea and settle in with my thoughts and my notebook. Something that helps me really assess what served me from the past year and what didn’t, is to ask myself thought-provoking questions. This year I’m going to share my questions with you, in the hopes that they will help you understand yourself better - and move in 2017 with newfound hope and possibility for what is yet to come! Self Care Through the Holidays

Last year I wrote a blog post on staying healthy throughout the holidays. This year, I want to focus on something that often gets lost, even if you’re eating healthy foods and hitting the gym in December: self care. Read More

What I've Learned About Wellness from the Moroccans

In my 10 days here, I’ve gotten a glimpse into everyday life for Moroccans. I’ve seen colourful and chaotic markets, families riding donkeys along the side of the road, and men languishing in the afternoon sun for hours, with a cup of mint tea and a cigarette. Of course smoking isn’t healthy, but in a lot of ways the Moroccans seem to be ahead of North Americans when it comes to overall wellbeing. A few things have stood out for me, and I’ll likely be implementing them in my own life once I’m back home. Read More

What I've Learned about Body Image from Working at lululemon

I recently took on a management position at an awesome location in Houston, Texas. It’s a perfect parallel to my health coaching practice, and it’s provided great opportunities to get out of my comfort zone, learn new things, and build community. It’s also given me a lot of insight into how women feel about their bodies, especially when trying on clothes. Read More

Lessons from the Lake

Remember when you were a kid and you would run around outside for hours until you finally collapsed with exhaustion? (Or got hollered at to come in and help with the chores?) As a child, nothing made me happier than exploring the great outdoors - especially at the beach. It didn’t matter if it was a pond, a lake, or the ocean. The water has always been my happy place. I didn’t care what my hair looked like or what I was wearing. I just wanted to run around, explore, and feel the wind on my face. I wanted time to stop so I could feel that sense of freedom forever. A Man's Perspective on Aging, Fear, and Letting Go

Elisabeth has asked me to write a guest blog post again this week. We quite often discuss our unique perspective on the U.S.A., being from a neighbouring country and all. Though some of you might think that Canada is just America-but-north (North?)... well, you'd be wrong - for reasons I’ll get into later. Read More

What I Gained From Doing a 25 Day Yoga Challenge

I recently completed a 25 day yoga challenge, where I took 25 classes in 25 days. Prior to the challenge, I’d been practicing roughly 2 - 3 times a week, and I naively thought it would be easy. I found out by day 7 that #yogaeverydamnday is actually quite a feat to accomplish, especially if you’re practicing the physical form of yoga (asana), as opposed to one of the 7 other “limbs”. It took some doing to hang in there and make it to day 25, but now that it’s behind me, I want to share with you what I gained from the experience: Read More

Interview with a European Fashion Model

This week I’ve decided to share a mini mid-week post with all of you! Lucky for me, I know some really interesting people, and one of those people happens to be my cousin, Julia, who is a fashion model in Europe. A woman of many talents, she is also a competitive dancer, and has won such titles as “Miss Salzburg 2006” and “International Model of the Year Austria 2006”, among others. Oh, and she also happens to be trained as a lawyer. We were talking about life and health recently, so I decided to ask her a few questions, and she was kind enough to agree to a short interview. Here’s what she has to say about modelling, staying in shape, and what her guilty pleasure is! Read More
