What I've Learned About Wellness from Hispanic Culture

I’ve always been enthralled with Hispanic culture. When I was growing up, I loved the Spanish language and was lucky enough to have a close friend who lived in Guatemala. Each time she’d come to visit, I loved hearing stories about her homeland, and was excited to wear whatever Mayan inspired clothing and jewelry she brought with her. It always made me feel welcome, the way she greeted everyone with a hug and a kiss rather than a handshake. From her I learned about refried beans, avocado with salt and lime, and of course fresh fruit with every meal. Throughout the years, my interest in Hispanic culture grew, and I've been lucky enough to meet wonderful people from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Spain, and other countries - and they were all more than happy to share their food, traditions, and culture with those around them. I'm Not Where I Thought I'd Be

I’m not where I thought I’d be. Like a lot of women, I assumed that by the time I turned 30, I’d have the perfect husband, the perfect home, 2 perfect little kids, and - of course - the perfect job. I was sure I’d have it all together, and naturally be healthy and in fantastic shape to boot. Ha! Read More

What's in Season this Spring

Hello May! Houston has been deluged by flooding rains these past few weeks, but hopefully things will settle down and brighten up soon. Spring is one of my favourite times of year, probably because it follows the long, cold winter, and brings with it new life and new opportunities. I love the feeling of expanding my own potential in the spring, and coming out of my cocoon, so to speak. Read More

Spring is the perfect time of year to spring clean not only your house, but also your diet. So this week I want to share some tips with you on how to maximize your pocketbook and your health. You don’t have to give up one to have the other! Read More

What I Gained From Doing a 25 Day Yoga Challenge

I recently completed a 25 day yoga challenge, where I took 25 classes in 25 days. Prior to the challenge, I’d been practicing roughly 2 - 3 times a week, and I naively thought it would be easy. I found out by day 7 that #yogaeverydamnday is actually quite a feat to accomplish, especially if you’re practicing the physical form of yoga (asana), as opposed to one of the 7 other “limbs”. It took some doing to hang in there and make it to day 25, but now that it’s behind me, I want to share with you what I gained from the experience: Read More

What I Learned From (Nervously) Doing a Boudoir Photo Shoot

I’d always wanted to try it. To buy some sexy lingerie, get in front of the camera and basically feel like a Victoria’s Secret model. Did I ever think I’d actually do it? Nope! Read More
